Non-Surgical Facial Treatments: Questions Before You Decide

ArogyaLens Editorial · Educational content · · 2 min read

A cosmetic consultation should explain the purpose, limits, risks and follow-up of a proposed procedure—not promise a filtered photograph.

Begin with the outcome you want

Different procedures address different concerns. A label such as non-surgical does not make them interchangeable or remove the need for an assessment. Describe the change you are considering in your own words and discuss whether a procedure is necessary at all. A good consultation should make room for realistic expectations, alternatives and the option to decide later.

Ask exactly what is being proposed

Request the name of the procedure and product, who will perform it, the intended area and what follow-up is planned. Ask how the recommendation relates to your history rather than assuming that a popular treatment is appropriate. Bring information about previous procedures, current medicines and reactions for the clinician to review. Do not treat a generic online article as clearance for an injection or other procedure.

    Take risk information seriously

The U.S. FDA describes dermal filler injection as a medical procedure with possible complications, including rare but serious injury when filler enters a blood vessel. That information is not an approval statement for a particular product or procedure in India. Ask the treating clinician to explain the relevant local requirements, product information, possible complications and how urgent concerns are handled. Do not buy injectable fillers for self-use or use an injection pen at home.

Leave with a clear decision process

Understand the total proposed cost, the expected limits of the result, recovery arrangements and the review plan before deciding. Photographs should be discussed in context, not used as a guarantee that another person will have the same outcome. If you are unsure about the explanation or feel rushed, take time to seek an independent qualified opinion. This article is a consultation checklist, not a recommendation for any cosmetic treatment.
